Originally from Gilmer , Texas , Jimmy Cox received his bachelors degree from Texas A&M Commerce, and then went on to earn a masters from Stephen F. Austin State University . In 1977, he began teaching at Waskom ISD as the Agriculture Science Teacher and taught Agriculture classes for 14 years. He then moved to the middle school as principal in 1991 where he served for nine years. In 2000, Jimmy became the high school principal. When the superintendent's position became available in 2001, he was selected as the final candidate and continues to lead the district today.
