The Harvest Festival & Livestock Show began in 1974 as an opportunity for 4-H and FFA members in Gregg, Smith, Rusk, Upshur, and Harrison to exhibit livestock and Home Ec projects.  An Ag Mechanics division was added in 2004.  The show awards scholarships to deserving students each year.  The scholarship program started with one $400 award in 1978 and has grown to over $25,000 awarded to nine students in 2005.  Some of the awards have been designated as memorial awards to recognize and commemorate the support and dedication of adults who have been an important part of the Harvest Festival through the years.  These awards are given in memory of the following individuals:
