Waskom Middle School is striving to become the safest possible learning environment for our students.

We cannot guarantee the safety of students in our schools, but we are doing everything within our power to make our schools as safe and secure as possible. We work with emergency management and response agencies to identify hazards affecting our district, prevent hazards from occurring, prepare our staff and students in the event hazards do occur, respond to emergencies appropriately, and help our staff, students, and families to recover from adversities. Our dedication to keeping our children safe is demonstrated by our mission statement, which is, "to provide a safe and secure learning environment while educating every student to become a successful, productive member of an ever-changing global society."

All classrooms now have telephones so that teachers can communicate with the office as needed. We practice safety drills regularly as mandated by state laws: Building Evacuation - 9 times per year, Site Evacuation - 2 times per year, and Shelter-In-Place, 2 times per semester. Waskom Middle School also has Safety Committee personnel that receive training on the most current safety procedures available. Your child's safety is our priority.
